So, we started day four in Las Vegas. Had a great breakfast at Denny's. It was fun people watching in Vegas while we dined. Las Vegas is another place that attracts people of all walks of life from all over the world. I could just sit on the street and people watch all day.
Not long after heading out we arrived at the California state line. Got our welcome sign photo on the side of a very busy highway!
Much driving later, we finally made it to the Santa Monica Pier. It was nice to get there before dark. The pier was great. Tons of people, street performers, rides and all kinds of yummy food. It was chilly due to the ocean breeze, but it felt good.
A great shot of the Route 66 end of the trail sign.
It was exciting to see the ocean again. My favorite place in the world. Some day I WILL live by the sea again before I die. This day was a first for all of us in may ways. It was our first time to California, and our first time to see the Pacific Ocean. This is a bid deal because G has been just about everywhere! It was nice to go to a new place and experience something new with him. California is just full of bucket list items for G.
We had a lot of fun on the Pier. Good family bonding time.
The second best part of the night was when we all rode the ferris wheel at sunset. A perfect place to watch the sun go down.
Such a cool little place in the world.
The best part of the night was after dark. We finished riding the rides and headed down to the beach. All of the kids have seen the ocean in the past, but Jack didn't remember because he was too young the last time. I wish I had taken a video. He absolutely loved it. The sand, the water and the waves. It was great to take our shoes off and just play in the waves for a bit.
After leaving Santa Monica, we spent the night in Anaheim.
