We had a wonderful, busy, Fourth of July weekend. Small town fireworks show, tons of yummy food, swimming and quality time with some of our favorite family and friends.
It's time to start the countdown. We leave in just four days! So much to do! Yesterday we purchased a luggage rack for the roof of the car. Hopefully this will work for storing G's wheelchair. Our new car has a pretty small trunk, so something has got to go up there. Packing light is going to be a challenge for sure.
There is so much we plan to see and we keep changing the itinerary and adding destination stops as we discover more online that we would like to see. When we head out on Friday, our first real stop will be Cadillac Ranch, in Amarillo. Amarillo is not one of my favorite places in the world, but we thought it would be fun to visit another graffiti park and let the kids have a go at it. A few months ago, we visited a very cool graffiti park in Austin and enjoyed it very much. This time we know to bring our own paint! This will be a free stop. Perfect, right? After finishing there, we will head up to Pueblo, Colorado, to stay the first night. The next morning, Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak made the list. After that we head out to Four Corners. This is a cool spot where you can stand in four states at one time. Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Our second night will be spent near Four Corners. Next morning, on to the Grand Canyon, ending the day in Las Vegas, where we will spend our third night. This is just the tip of the iceberg people. We are planning to pack so much into this crazy trip! So many things most of us have never seen before!
Now I'm off to do all that boring stuff like laundry and paying bills to take care of things before we leave.
