Sequoia National Park was the only destination for day number seven. Much driving through the mountains. Very different from the day before in L.A. and Hollywood.
As we drove further and further into the mountains, the trees became larger and larger!
This is General Sherman. It is not only the tallest tree in the world, but the largest living organism on the planet!! Crazy.
It is fenced off, so you can't get too close to it. As you can see from the picture of us, it is quite large. Imagine a small sky scraper. That is how large this tree was.
These trees are not as tall as some of the redwood trees, but they are much bigger around.
Getting to see this and the redwoods has been one of my personal favorites so far. Something I have always wanted to see. It seems like every day we see something more amazing and beautiful than the day before. I now have the song, This Land is Your Land, stuck in my head......
In awe of the view.
After seeing the Sequoias, we headed to our hotel just outside of San Francisco. It was a good day.
*For those of you who are wondering, I am very behind in the blog. We have been doing a lot of sight seeing, and a ton of driving. A major problem is that for several days this week we haven't even been able to get a phone signal. After we get closer to the East coast, I hope to have better Internet and get caught up. In real time, we are in Minnesota. This morning we are about to head out and spend the day at The Mall of America!
